Students explore the ideas and concepts than are found in an inclusive environment. Students learn new terminology and define these terms: inclusion, empathy, confidence, empowerment, leadership. By working together to define the terms using their personal experiences, this activity provides an opportunity for creativity and problem-solving.
Students act out a short skit demonstrating a scenario where someone who is initially excluded becomes included. The activity allows students to use their imagination and critical thinking skills when coming up with a solution. Students engage in conversation about how acts of inclusion need to happen in their everyday lives, and why those actions can be sometimes difficult.
Students continue to explore the concept of inclusion by playing a game of Jeopardy where all questions relate to inclusion. Students practice teamwork and problem-solving.
